Living Arrangements

Respect for others and clear communication are two important aspects of making any living arrangement work.

Another important consideration is being aware of and reasonably accommodating to the needs of others.

  • In college, university or when you begin to work, you may set up an independent living space, often shared with others. It is important that you choose your roommates or living partners carefully.
  • Discuss any specific concerns you have, including:
    • dietary needs,
    • party space versus study space,
    • communal bills.
  • Write out a contract that clearly outlines each roommate’s responsibilities and conditions before you move in together.
